Imagine our Media Arts class is a news team for a live news channel. We'll have anchors and reporters bringing the stories that matter to their audience. There will be news segments on topics like: top stories, local events, sports, weather, global stories, crime stories, politics, entertainment news, and many more.
Choose a PURPOSE:
News segments are made for different purposes. Choose one from the list below that will work with the topic you choose.
As a class we will create different reporting groups and you'll develop some ideas for your segments. What you'll be in charge of:
We will select 2 students to be the anchors at the news desks. A script will be developed based on the segments each group is going to make. There needs to be an intro to the news followed by all the segments and then a sign off to end the program.
These students will work as a team to edit together every group's segment. On the last day of class together we will have a watch party and view our finished NEWS SHOW.

- Share a discovery
- Ask for Help from the public
- Keep the public updated about current events
- Tell the public about upcoming event

- Come up with a list of ideas
- Choose an idea
- Develop a script (lines and action)
- Get approval from Mr. Choy for your script and ideas
- Decide on roles: who is going to be cameraperson, reporter, interviewee, etc...
- Make up names for all the characters
- Film your scenes
- Edit your scenes
- Submit your scenes to the Google Drive.
